The population of Chico, California seems to be rather stable with the exception of the 20-24 year old age group. This is because Chico is a college town with a large university at its heart. The increase of this age group is most likely due to students coming from other areas of California and possibly the country to live in Chico while attending college. The population then evens out as students live and work elsewhere after college.
The population of Davis, California also seems to be stable with the exception of the 20 to 24 year old age group. Again, Davis is a college town and many students live here while at school and then move elsewhere. The great number of people in their reproductive years does, however, give college towns the potential to grow if these people also choose to settle down in these same areas.
The population of Minneapolis, Minnesota is mostly stable. The greater number of 20-44 year old people is probably because people move to Minneapolis for job opportunities in business and various companies. The smaller amount of children and teenagers could result in a small population decline, however, because it is a large city people will constantly be moving into it for jobs and school, therefore increasing the city's population.
The population of Boston, Massachusetts is somewhat stable. The greater number of 20-44 year old people is probably because people move to large cities such as Boston for job opportunities and colleges. While the younger age groups are less populated, people moving into the city during their 20's and 30's levels out the population that would otherwise seem to be declining.
The population of Seattle, Washington is fairly stable with what seems to be a slight declination. The greater number of 20-44 year old people is most likely because young people move to large cities such as Seattle for job opportunities and colleges. While the younger age groups are less populated, people moving into the city during their 20's and 30's levels out the population that would otherwise seem to be declining.
The population of Juneau and Borough, Alaska is stable. The slight increase in people 45-65 years old could be contributed to people from other states retiring and choosing to live in Alaska after retirement. Alaska will also "pay" residents to live there indefinitely in order to maintain a steady population.
